Mission Wellness views the services we provide as a ministry. We take a faith-based approach that views the Bible as the primary source for God’s truth and eternal standards for human life. As a disclaimer on Biblical truth, we are human being trying to understand an omnipotent God through his revelations to humanity that had been handed down orally and by manuscripts many thousands of years old written in archaic languages. We at Mission Wellness are well-educated Biblical scholars, but we acknowledge the limitations of human understanding of the divine. This is why God declares, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,"- Isaiah 55:8. For this reason, we are dedicated to the learning process fully knowing that our understanding will be narrow but enriching.
A Christian approach involves the process of integrating current psychological methods and processes with behavioral standards guided by Scripture. The Bible acts as our road map on our quest for balance. This balance is primarily sought through our relationships with ourselves, others, and God. When we can achieve a balance in these relationships, we can find peace.
Our approach is based on the premise that individuals and their problems are best handled within the context of the couple's relationship. Typically, both partners in the relationship attend the sessions to discuss the couple's specific issues. The aim of these sessions are to help couple’s deal appropriately with their immediate problems and to learn better ways of relating.
Family approaches focuses on relationships within the family unit and takes place with other family members present. A family approach may be the primary approach, or it could be used as a supplement to individual work. In the family approach, the family is seen as a "whole" system, rather than the sum of its individual members. As with individual and group approaches, the family approach is used to address a wide variety of goals. Rather than viewing problems as owned and caused by a particular family member, a family approach helps to identify the way family dynamics effects individual and family functioning.
As a parent, you want what is best for your child, but it’s not always easy to know what type of support or interventions he or she needs. We provide individually tailored services designed to overcome a wide range of emotional, behavioral or relationship problems — from mild to severe. Children often lack the maturity or communicaiton skills to openly chat about thier issues. Typically, we meet children at their level and use play as a means of communication. In their play world, we can exlpore a child's emotional issues, confront behavioral problems, and address trauma that is too difficult to openly discuss.
Groups are a form of community support where people who have similar experiences and concerns meet with a group facilitator in order to provide emotional help, advice, encouragement, and accountability for one another. For more information about each group, please follow the links for each group below:
Mission Wellness takes a different approach to weight management. Traditional approaches involve the process of monitoring intake and expenditure of calories to adjust body weight. Our approach tries to address food addictions and the pleasure foods that are substitutes for our unmet emotional needs. When our emotional needs are better met, our reliance on pleasure foods are significantly reduced or eliminated.
Being active is essential for a balanced lifestyle. Too often, we begin a fitness program attempting activities that we have little interest in or require substantial endurance, skill, and proficiency. We quickly abandon those activities because we do not get enjoyment from them. Mission Wellness will conduct a comprehensive fitness assessment to help identify and we will design pleasurable activities to meet your fitness goals.
Mission Wellness provides a non-judgmental non-denominational atmosphere for the exploration of Biblical truths. Our knowledgeable staff facilitates Biblical discussions to further our spiritual journey of growing closer to God. It’s a kind of church without a pastor or pews but full of God's word, prayer, and praise.
